Honorary Consulate of Portugal in Nicosia

Honorary Consulate - An Honorary Consul is an individual, Portuguese or otherwise, who is not a diplomat and resides in the country and location where their Consulate operates. They are appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to advocate and secure the rights and interests of the Portuguese State and its nationals in a city without official representation. Honorary Consulates usually lack the competence to perform consular acts; however, under specific, justified instances, they may be authorised to conduct voter registration operations, civil registration, notary acts, and issue travel documents. Honorary Consuls execute their duties within their jurisdiction, following the directives of the Head of the Mission they are linked to.
