Honorary Consulate of Portugal in Perth

Honorary Consulate - An Honorary Consul, who can be Portuguese or a foreign national and is not necessarily a diplomat, but resides in the country and location of the Consulate's operation, is appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to uphold and safeguard the rights and interests of the Portuguese State and its citizens in a city lacking official representation. They are generally not authorized to perform consular actions, exceptions being in specific and justified events, where they may be granted permission to handle voter registration, civil registry and notary tasks and issue travel documents. Their duties are executed in line with the directives of the Head of the Mission to which they are associated.
