The consular post

Consular Section: what does this post do?

All consular affairs pertaining to Portuguese citizens overseas and Foreigners are managed at a service center. These are typically found in an Embassy in the capital city and work from the same building. Generally, they only accept visitors with a pre-scheduled appointment through the Embassy's website. It's highly probable that they work in collaboration with a service provider like VFS for Visa appointments, which will process the document collection and interview. Alternatively, they may also employ the E-Visa system, which will gather the required data to create an online form, leading to your physical appointment at the Consular Section of the Embassy.

Things you need to know

The source notice about the 2019-nCoV outbreak states that the consular section in Beijing was handling only urgent requests by appointment and that VFS centres would close from 10 to 16 February. Confirm current service arrangements before visiting.
