The Portugal D7 Visa, also known as the passive income visa, is perfect for anyone seeking a relaxed lifestyle in the sun. It's designed for those who can demonstrate a stable income from pensions, savings, or other passive sources, allowing them to live in Portugal without needing local employment.

What are the main requirements for the D7 Visa?
Besides being a non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizen and a clean criminal record, you must prove passive income and savings that fits the following sources ✅:
👉 Pension: Regular pension payments from your home country.
👉 Rentals: Income from rental properties.
👉 Investments: Dividends, interest, and other investment income.
What amount should my passive income be for my D7 visa application?
It depends on your application!
-> If you are applying solo 👨
A full annual Portuguese minimum wage income 💸:
9.840,00 euros, as annual income.
-> If you are applying with a spouse or major family dependant 👫
Add 50% to the full annual minimum wage 💸:
4.920,00 euros, totalling 14.760,00 euros, as annual income.
-> If you are applying with children 👨👩👧👦
Add 30% for each dependent child 💸:
2.952,00 euros, added to your annual income.
So, basically, a family of 2 spouses (9.840,00 + 4.920,00) and 2 children (2.952,00 + 2.952,00) would need proof of an annual income of 20.664,00 euros (and the same value in savings).
Who may I bring as a dependent on my D7 visa application?
You can bring:
- Your spouse or civil partner;
- Your minor children (above 18 qualifies if enrolled in a Portuguese educational facility);
- Dependent parents (when included at your tax return or under your care);
Anyone whom you or your spouse may have legal guardianship (like disabled children or family members under your care, siblings you may have legal guardianship, adopted children).
