The word from the Portuguese embassy in Mauritania

We are delighted to welcome you to the Embassy of Mauritania. We strive to foster diplomatic, cultural, and economic ties between Mauritania and the global community. Providing consular services, travel guidelines, and arranging cultural activities are part of our efforts to encourage diversity and camaraderie amongst nations.

What type of Consular Representation is the Portugal's Diplomatic Representation in Mauritania?

General Consulate - Akin to a Consular Section, a General Consulate also serves as a center for all consular affairs under the guidance of a Consul. These offices usually have a larger scale and operate separately from the Embassies, albeit under the supervision of the Ambassador of that country. They are generally located in big cities with substantial Portuguese Diasporas, excluding the capital. Visa services are provided either through VFS or E-Visa, depending on the country.

External Service Providers for the Portugal's Diplomatic Representation in Mauritania

💡Tips:

Certified service providers in various cities across Portugal are authorized to accept visa applications, which not only makes the process more accessible for applicants but also ensures quicker processing. Our aim is to expand geographic coverage and accommodate an increased number of applicants efficiently.

Portugal has established contracts in 25 distinct countries, equating to a territorial coverage spanning 89 cities

This consular representation entirely delegates its visa application process to VFS Global, who deals with all the operational elements except for the visa review and approval. This approach streamlines the process, enabling the consulate to manage a high influx of applications efficiently while retaining control over visa issuance.
