Barquisimeto's Honorary Consulate of Portugal

An Honorary Consul, who may or may not be of Portuguese origin and is not a diplomat, resides in the nation and city of the Consulate's operation. Selected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, their role is to uphold and safeguard the rights and interests of the Portuguese State and its nationals where no official representation exists. They generally lack the authority to perform consular acts, but under special justified circumstances, they might be permitted to manage voter registry operations, civil records, notary actions, and issue travel documents.
