Usually, it is a department inside an Embassy in the capital city, operating in the same premises. These sections typically require appointments be scheduled in advance via the Embassy's website. For Visa appointments, service providers such as VFS may be engaged to collect documents and conduct interviews. Alternatively, an E-Visa system could be utilized to gather necessary information for an online form, leading to a scheduled meeting at the Consular Section.

Visas handled directly by the post

This consulate does not utilize VFS services and manages all visa-related processes in-house. This approach gives complete control over the visa procedure but can extend the processing time due to increased workload.

• Portuguese Tax Number (NIF): a unique tax identification number required for financial transactions in Portugal. You can obtain it at any tax office or through a fiscal representative.
